From 1 July 2008 the AUstralian Government increased the Child Care Tax Rebate payment to families from 30% to 50%. The Child Care Tax Rebate is a payment for parents or guardians who are working, studying or training, and is not income tested.
Families can now receive up to $7500 a year for one child in approved care. The Rebate will be paid quarterly or as an annual lump sum payment.

All parents of a new baby in Western Australia will be given a free book called ‘Welcome to Your New Baby’ to help them through the first year of their child’s life.

Health Minister Jim McGinty said parents would receive the magazine-style book at their first visit with a community child health nurse.
