Consulting and advice for women in your workplace
If your organisation has more than 100 employees, it is obligated to comply with the Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Act 1999 (Commonwealth). This includes reporting annually to EOWA on the actions it is taking, and demonstrating the outcomes of its workplace program.
Other than that, there are no additional obligations on organisations and employers to implement programs that support the development, advancement and retention of women in the workplace. So most organisations simply do the bare minimum required of them to meet the legislative requirements.
Which is crazy! Because all the research shows that creating forums and programs for women in your workplace, and implementing additional policies to support flexibility and diversity, has a dramatic impact on the ability of an organisation to attract and retain female talent. It's also a prerequisite for gaining Employer of Choice for Women citation from the EOWA.
