Thanks to everyone who posted comments on my blog about Boycotting Facebook this Valentines Day, and for all the Twitter messages and votes of support (just to recap this is a PROTEST that the Facebook board has ZERO women even though 58% of its users are women).  So I am taking on all your good advice and I hear what you say when you tell me to fight Facebook's shunning of women on their board with... what else but Facebook? 

As I write this I'm just trying to figure out how to set up a Facebook page that won't result in all my family getting "tagged" and an overwhelming number of new "friends" that I never knew I had (the very reason I closed my Facebook profile over a year ago...)

So if anyone has any hints or tips on this, please let me know... otherwise bear with me and I'll be back in touch soon!

Hi Jen, So glad you're doing this! A couple of ideas: set up the page anonymously (e.g. create a new user account for The SheEO), that way it doesn't have to have any relationship to you personally; or, draft a one to two line "status update" about the
issue and forward it to all your subscribers, to copy and paste to their Facebook accounts. You could also use that to request that anyone who agrees with the cause then copy and paste, so your reach will be exponential. The latter has been used successfully
by Pink Ribbon and a number of other campaigns. Good luck!

I like the idea in isolation, but in the bigger context... Not sure I get it... So will you also close down your bank accounts and associations with any other organisations who don't have women on their boards? Facebook appears to be your target because
it is relatively easy. Interested in your thoughts.

Actually Katie, yes. I don't want to invest in companies that don't have women on their boards because their return on shareholders equity is up to 41% lower than those organisations with women on their boards. And I don't want to buy from them or support
them with my custom because they're not being fair to women. So yes - I would close my bank accounts if the organisations I currently bank with decided to remove women from their Boards. Fortunately most organisations are long past the days of no women on
their board - Facebook is a big exception with only 11% of Fortune500 companies having no women on their boards. Not good enough, I say.
